Editing Progress

We began editing our music video while still filming some other shots. However our main issue with this method of editing was that due to the nature of our video, it was incredibly difficult to edit parts together while not having every shot filmed. This was because we were going for a realistic energy to the video and so some shots would be improvised during the shoot, based around a main idea.

We began the edit with four different sections of footage to put together. These consisted of the white scenes at the beginning, performance shots, balloon shots and paint fight shots.

We began by following our animatic and placing each shot in the correct place.

Once we had done this, however, we realised that we needed to change a lot of the shots. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing as we had the basis of our video from the animatic but could adapt this once we had all the footage together.
Some of the immediate changes we realised we needed to make consisted of:

  • We would have to cut out the first forest scenes in order for it to fit
  • The pace throughout the video, especially during the choruses
  • Cutting to the music was a major issue that would make the video look much more professional
  • The order of shots and mixture of the different setups
  • The speed at which shots changed and length of shots
